It may sound paradoxical, in an environment where most of us are really trying to cut costs, but buying Australian made right now is one of the best things we could be doing for the economy.
It's not just about enjoying high quality goods and feeling good about supporting Australia, it's about actively supporting Australian jobs and manufacturing. Recent studies indicate that for every $1 million of new or retained manufacturing business in Australia, $333,900 worth of tax revenue is generated (tax that funds hospitals, schools, etc) and 10 full-time jobs are created. Additionally, manufacturing, including local artisan goods like ours, contributes significantly to the GDP, with every $1 spent in manufacturing adding $1.37 to the wider economy. Not bad at all!
When you buy products made in Australia, you are contributing to the livelihood of local farmers, producers, and businesses. This not only helps in sustaining the local economy but also promotes a greener footprint by reducing the need for long-distance shipping.
Take the macadamia oil that we use in some of our soaps. That macadamia oil comes to us from a Queensland manufacturer, that sources the oil from local farmers. We use a local freight company who delivers the oil to our factory here in Melbourne, where our wonderful staff turns it into soap. We box our soaps in packaging sourced from an Australian printing business in Sydney. We then ship that soap to your doorstep using Australia Post.
It's a similar story for all the Australian ingredients that we use and the products that we manufacture.
