Why We Wear Masks (Even Though We’re All About Natural Soap)

·At The Australian Natural Soap Company, we’re passionate about natural ingredients and making the best soap possible. But we’re often asked, "If you’re all about natural, why do you wear masks when making your soaps?" It’s a great question, and one we’re happy to explain.
Soap-Making Is Serious Business
Soap-making is an art and a science. One essential ingredient, lye, helps turn oils into soap through a process called saponification. While it’s completely safe once the soap is made, when we mix the lye, it releases heat and some fumes. We wear masks during this phase to make sure we’re working in a safe environment, keeping everything under control while we craft the soap.
Safety First, Always
We don’t take shortcuts when it comes to safety. Whether we’re making a few bars or hundreds of them, the process involves strong scents from essential oils and some serious heat from the lye. The mask helps manage the fumes, and the apron protects us from splashes and keeps things clean. We want to make sure everything is in the best condition possible before it reaches you.
Volume Means More Care
We make a lot of soap these days – a lot. And when you’re producing at this scale, those extra precautions become even more necessary. It’s all about maintaining quality and safety from start to finish. We want to make sure every bar that leaves our workshop is of the highest quality, and taking these extra steps ensures just that.
What’s Really Incredible
What’s really incredible is that this process is still exactly the same as when Anthony and I first started making soap in our kitchen all those years ago. Back then, we knew we had something special, and as we’ve scaled, we’ve worked hard to keep that same care and commitment to quality. We’ve always believed in the power of natural ingredients and the artistry behind slow-set soap-making, and that hasn’t changed – it’s just gotten bigger.
It’s All About the End Result
At the end of the day, we want you to love the soap we make. And that means we take every step seriously, from the ingredients we use to the precautions we take during the process. The masks, aprons, and safety measures are all part of making sure that the final product is the best it can be – and 100% safe for you to use.
Soapy hugs,
