Why Natural Soap Should Be Your Go-To for Kids' and Young Teens Skin

The Overwhelming World of Child Skincare

As parents, navigating the maze of child skincare can feel overwhelming. Store shelves and digital spaces alike are bursting with an ever-increasing array of products, from baby moisturisers to pint-sized serums. The trend towards more complex skincare routines for children and young teens is not just bewildering—it's unnecessary and potentially harmful.

My Skincare Journey

From a young age, I struggled with severe acne. Desperate for a solution, I was prescribed a potent medical cream. However, being a kid, I didn’t heed the warnings about sun exposure. The result was a painful sunburn that left my skin with a lingering redness that persists to this day.

I really wish I'd been reassured more that there was actually nothing wrong with my skin: acne and skin issues are a normal part of growing up, and it won't be forever. Just feed your skin the things it needs: hydration, gentle cleansing, protection, and proper sun protection. These are lessons I wish I had known earlier, and they are why I now advocate for simple, natural skincare for our children.

The Case for Simplicity

Children's skin is delicate and still developing, which makes it particularly susceptible to irritation. Young skin thrives under the care of simplicity. Natural soap, with its clean and minimal ingredients list, provides all the essentials: cleansing, moisturise, and protection without the harsh chemicals that often populate the labels of conventional skincare products.

Back to Basics with Natural Ingredients

Our philosophy is to strip back the unnecessary, focusing on pure and effective ingredients. Our soaps are crafted to respect the integrity of young skin, featuring elements like olive oil, which is celebrated for its gentle moisturising properties, and zinc, known for its protective barrier against irritants.

Challenging the Norm

The push towards complex skincare routines for kids isn't just about beauty—it’s a worrying sign of consumerism creeping into childhood where it just doesn’t belong. By simplifying skincare, we can help foster a healthier, more realistic relationship with beauty and self-care, steering clear of instilling the notion that more products equals to better care.

The Real Benefits of Going Natural

Choosing natural soaps means embracing products that are free from synthetic fragrances, parabens, and sulphates—common irritants that can disrupt the natural balance of the skin and cause discomfort. Instead, natural soaps provide a safe, effective cleansing experience, backed by the comforting knowledge of what’s actually touching your child’s skin.
