Why I Think Australia Makes the Best Avocado Oil in the World

·It’s World Avocado Day this week — so let me take a moment to sing the praises of one of my all-time favourite ingredients: Australian avocado oil.
I genuinely believe we produce the best avocado oil in the world. Big claim, I know — but hear me out.
The Customs Conversation I'll Never Forget
Years ago, we were heading to a trade show in the U.S We travel heavy when it comes to stock (try explaining 40+ bars of handmade soap to airport security without sounding like you’ve completely lost it).
At customs, we got pulled aside — as we usually do — and ended up chatting to this very enthusiastic officer who asked what kind of soap we made.
When I said “Avocado oil soap,” he blinked and said:
“Wait — Australia makes avocado oil?”
I nearly laughed. “Yes,” I said, “and it’s absolutely brilliant.”
He was genuinely shocked. In his mind, avocado oil was this uniquely Californian, health-food-store kind of thing. The idea that Australia not only grew avocados but pressed them into beautiful, cold-pressed oil — and then turned that into luscious, rich soap — was completely foreign.
I remember thinking: People have no idea what we’re sitting on here.
Why Our Avocado Oil Is Different
I’m not a scientist, but I’ve worked with enough raw materials to know the good stuff when I see it. And Australian avocado oil is different.
It’s thick. Globby, even. When we pour it during soapmaking, it moves like honey — slow and rich and silky. None of that thin, watery, over-processed stuff.
You can feel the quality just by touching it. That viscosity means it’s packed full of the good stuff: oleic acid, vitamins A, D and E, and all those natural emollients that dry skin loves. It absorbs better than almost any other oil we use, sinking deep into the skin’s layers instead of just sitting on the surface.
When It’s in a Soap, You Know It
We’ve used avocado oil in a few of our bars over the years — but nothing showcases it quite like our limited-edition Avocado Castile bar.
We superfat the soap so that a good amount of avocado oil stays in the bar — not turned into soap, but left behind to nourish. That means it feels creamy, hydrating, and incredibly soothing, especially on sensitive or dry skin.
It’s the kind of bar that doesn’t shout — it just works. No scent. No colour. Just simple, honest richness.
And that richness? That comes from those globules of Australian-grown goodness. The kind that customs officers can’t believe exist. The kind that makes me proud to be doing what we do.
It's Not Just the Avocado Castile
You’ll also find this beautiful oil in our Dry Skin Cleanser bar — one of our bestselling classics for a reason. And for those who prefer a pump, we’ve bottled that same goodness in our liquid Dry Skin Cleanser, which has become a staple for customers dealing with flakiness, irritation, or just everyday dryness.
Soapy hugs,
Emma
