Keeping Your Natural Soap Solid, Even When It's Hot Outside

Keeping Your Natural Soap Solid, Even When It's Hot Outside
As summer approaches, the rising temperatures mean more outdoor fun—but they also mean warmer, more humid conditions for your natural soap.
As the heat climbs, you may have noticed something peculiar about our soap bars during the warmer months. Our lovely bars of soap, rich in all those nourishing plant oils, start behaving more like jelly than the solid cleansers we love. It's not your soap trying to escape; it's just reacting to its environment. Let's chat about why this happens and how we can keep our soapy companions solid and effective, even when the thermometer is off the charts.
So, Why the Jell-O Act?
Natural soap is a bit of a diva, rich in natural plant oils and special soap molecules that love to interact with water. Plus, it has this knack for pulling moisture right out of the air, thanks to its hygroscopic properties. This is fantastic for our skin, making the soap super cleansing and moisturising. However, it's also why your soap might start softening up and losing its shape in hot and humid conditions.
Tips for Keeping Your Soap in Tip-Top Shape
Keeping your soap solid in the heat isn't rocket science, but it does take a little care. Here are some tips that work wonders for me:
1. Soap Savers are Lifesavers: These nifty little tools are fantastic for keeping your soap dry between uses. They let water drain away, preventing your soap from lounging in moisture, which is a big no-no.
2. Get Yourself a Great Soap Holder: Think of this like a soap spa where your bars can chill out, dry, and enjoy some air circulation. This is especially handy if your bathroom stays steamy long after shower time. Our ceramic soap holders are particularly because they raise the soap on its own drying rack.
3. Slice It Up: Cutting your soap into smaller pieces means you only use what you need when you need it. Smaller pieces also mean less soap exposed to the humid air, so each piece stays harder for longer.
4. Cool, Dry Storage Is Key: When not in use, tuck your soap away in a spot that's cool and dry. A cabinet away from the shower or even a linen closet works great. Out of sight, out of the humid air. Many modern showers unfortunately trap in the steam long after you shower.
5. Direct Water Is Not a Friend: Try to keep your soap away from direct water streams, particularly leaking taps! A spot outside the shower's splash zone can make all the difference.
Dealing with natural soap turning into a goopy mess in the heat can be a bit of a bummer, but with these tips, you can keep your bars solid, effective, and ready to pamper your skin.
It's all about smart storage, reducing moisture contact, and using just what you need. Keep these practices up, and your natural soap will stay by your side (or in your shower), ready for action, no matter how high the mercury rises. Happy lathering!
Soapy Hugs!
